about the illiac
The ILLIAC is presented on occasion by the same promoters who have brought you PYGMALION for the past twenty years in Champaign-Urbana. Named in honor of The Illiac Suite, which is widely known as the first piece of music composition created by an electronic computer, the event itself first took place in 2014 in Downtown Urbana as a one day music festival. After ten years, it returns, this time in Hessel Park and will present Sinfonia da Camera with incredible support from Champaign Park District, The College of FAA at Illinois, and Busey Bank.
The idea is to use the name to dream up different engagements rooted in musical offerings designed to both delight and challenge those who wish to attend. The goal is for it to continue with greater frequency into the future, and we hope you will join us!
